Jerod Haase is aiming to build a contender with his Stanford Cardinal.
His program got a nice boost on Tuesday with the commitment of 3-star Lithuanian center Lukas Kisunas according to 247Sports’ Evan Daniels.
The Brewster Academy (Wolfeboro, N.H.) big man had offers from seven schools, including fellow Pac-12 program Arizona. He chose the Cardinal for a solid mix of reasons.
“One of the big reasons was the education and the level of it,” Kisunas said. “I think it was mainly education and there’s a spot for me on the team.”
Kisunas is just shy of a 4-star rating from 247Sports, owning a composite score of .8931. He’s the No. 25 center in the recruiting class, the No. 5 prospect in Lithuania and the No. 199 recruit in the 2018 class. He’s also the fourth member of Stanford’s 2018 class, joining 4-star guards Cormac Ryan and Bryce Wills, and 6-foot-11 center Keenan Fitzmorris.
Kisunas also brings a flair of international-style basketball thanks to his experience playing on Lithuania’s u16, u17 and u18 teams.
He took his official visit to Palo Alto last weekend and left with a positive enough review to give his commitment this week.
“It was really good,” Kisunas said. “I really like the facilities. The people I met, academically and the style of play and I feel like I got a connection with the players. I really enjoyed it. There was moments that I felt like I was right back at home.”
