Reid Travis is returning to school but not to Stanford.
According to ESPN’s Jeff Goodman, Travis will withdraw from the 2018 NBA Draft and from Stanford. Reports indicate the power forward is planning to transfer to Kentucky. He would become a graduate transfer for the Wildcats.
Travis’ loss would be a crushing blow to Stanford. The All-Pac-12 first-team member was Stanford’s leading scorer (19.5) and rebounder (8.7) last season. He would be on the short list of Pac-12 Player of the Year candidates for next year.
If Travis does land in Lexington, he would be a good get for coach John Calipari and the Wildcats. Calipari once again has a top-10 college basketball roster. Travis’ addition would bolster Calipari’s lineup.
Reid Travis announced his decision later on Wednesday
Thanks to everyone who has helped me along the way. I’m blessed to be surrounded by a supportive network of family and friends. Stanford, I’m thankful for the opportunity I have had to represent this University and I can’t wait to see what God has in store for me. 🙏🏽 pic.twitter.com/wqvFzITSmF
