It was a moment that Rex Culpepper will cherish forever.
The Syracuse redshirt sophomore quarterback is currently fighting through a treatable form of testicular cancer. Leading into Friday, Culpepper pleaded with coach Dino Babers to play in the spring game but wasn’t expected to participate.
However, Babers had a change of heart that resulted in a memory that will give both Syracuse and Culpepper goosebumps whenever they relive it.
On the final drive of the spring game, Babers replaced Tommy DeVito with Culpepper, who responded by leading the Orange down the field for a touchdown.

This is what sports are all about. The entire Syracuse team gleefully mobbed Culpepper as the crowd went nuts.
Afterward, Culpepper was almost at a loss for words regarding his feelings.
“It just felt surreal,” Culpepper said in the Syracuse.com video. “It was spectacular. I’ll never forget that.”
