TCU return specialist KaVontae Turpin was tabbed as a preseason All-American by Athlon Sports for 2018.
Turpin is the first-team punt returner on Athlon’s preseason All-America team. He is the only TCU player represented on the list. It’s the second year in a row he has received a preseason All-America nod. He also earned freshman All-American honors in 2015 and an All-America honorable mention by SB Nation last season.
The senior returner averaged 30.8 yards per kick return and 16.3 yards per punt return in 2017. He also scored 2 special teams touchdowns on the year.
First, he had a 90-yard punt-return touchdown against Kansas.
Then he scored on a 94-yard kickoff return the next week against Iowa State.
Turpin has 4 special teams touchdowns in his collegiate career. If he adds to that total this season, he’ll likely contend for some postseason All-America honors too.
