TCU starting linebackers Travin Howard and Montrel Wilson will not play this week against Texas Tech because of unspecified injuries.
Howard was not in uniform for warm-ups in Lubbock, Texas, on Saturday morning, according to the Star-Telegram’s Carlos Mendez. Junior Ty Summers, junior Arico Evans and senior Sammy Douglas are expected to get most of the snaps at linebacker against the Red Raiders.

With Howard and Wilson out, TCU will be missing six starters this week, including quarterback Kenny Hill, free safety Niko Small and kicker Jonathan Song. Running back Darius Anderson, listed as a co-starter with Kyle Hicks and Sewo Olonilua on the team depth chart, is also out after suffering a season-ending foot injury last week.
TCU coach Gary Patterson said Tuesday that Howard, Wilson, Hill and Small were “between probable and questionable” this week with various unspecified injuries.
Song missed last week’s game against Oklahoma with a reported groin injury. Kickoff specialist Cole Bunce will take over field goal duties for Song.
Howard leads TCU in tackles this season 83. He also has 7 tackles for loss and an interception return for a touchdown. Wilson has notched 30 tackles while playing in seven of TCU’s nine games this season.
TCU and Texas Tech kick off at 11 a.m. CT. The game will be broadcast on FS1.
