An outstanding season for the TCU women’s basketball team ended Wednesday with a 71-58 loss at Indiana in the semifinals of the Women’s NIT.
TCU held a 14-13 lead after the first quarter, but trailed 32-28 at the half and 51-40 after the third quarter. The Horned Frogs’ bench carried most of the load, with Dakota Vann scoring 13 points and grabbing 5 rebounds, while Amy Okonkwo added 11 points.
The Horned Frogs went deeper in a postseason tournament than any year in program history. They haven’t made the NCAA Tournament since the 2009-10 season, and had previously made an NIT quarterfinal in 2007-08. This is Raegan Pebley’s third year as coach of the Horned Frogs, and the program has been steadily on the rise since she arrived on campus.
TCU finished the year with a 23-13 record. They were the second Big 12 team to lose in the NIT semifinals, after West Virginia lost to Virginia Tech earlier Wednesday.
