After a great first season with the Mountaineers, West Virginia’s Will Grier is getting serious Heisman buzz for 2018.
Sports Illustrated already named him as one of the Heisman favorites for next season. And on Monday, ESPN also added Grier’s name to its watch list, provided he returns for his senior season.
Alex Scarborough wrote that after Grier’s junior year, the sky is the limit for the Mountaineers’ quarterback.
“He threw for 3,490 yards, 34 touchdowns and 12 interceptions this season,” Scarborough wrote. “He even ran for a couple of touchdowns, stating his case along with (Oklahoma senior quarterback Baker) Mayfield as one the most productive quarterbacks in college football. But if he returns, he could be looking at a Mayfield-like Heisman run in 2018.”
It’s uncertain whether Grier will come back for another year in Morgantown, W. Va. But West Virginia will get a Heisman favorite if he does.
