With less than two months to go before the start of fall camp, Texas Tech is down a wide receiver. Coach Kliff Kingsbury announced Thursday that wide receiver Quan Shorts has been kicked off the team.
The announcement comes after Shorts reportedly was arrested and booked into the Lubbock County Detention Center on Thursday afternoon. No charges have been reported.

Shorts was arrested with three other Red Raiders players at a Lubbock nightclub in March. He was suspended, but reinstated a week later.
A 6-foot-2 receiver from Humble, Texas, Shorts had a small role in the Texas Tech offense during his first two seasons. Shorts contributed 9 receptions for 109 yards and 2 touchdowns last season after catching 5 passes as a freshman in 2017.
Shorts, who appeared in just six games for the Red Raiders last season, was expected to have a larger role in Texas Tech’s offense in 2018. Instead, his Red Raiders career appears to be over.
