A 3-star prospect, Gonzalez has received offers in recent weeks from SMU, Boise State, Arizona State, Virginia Tech, and Arizona, among others. Texas Tech didn’t offer until May 25, but nevertheless, Gonzalez sided with the Red Raiders in short order.
As a junior, Gonzalez hauled in 28 receptions for 600 yards and 7 touchdowns. Almost immediately following his senior season, Gonzalez will graduate and become an early enrollee.
With Gonzalez in the fold, Texas Tech’s six-man class sits at No. 55 nationally and No. 7 in the Big 12. Gonzalez is ranked No. 1,090, the No. 45 tight end and the No. 143 player in Texas, per the 247Sports composite.
