Most people remember their childhood birthdays, because they might’ve had a bounce house in their backyard for a day or received their first pet.
Texas Tech fan Ethan Chavez will remember his eighth birthday for different reasons.
Chavez celebrated his birthday at Texas Tech’s NCAA Regional final against Louisville. Seems fun, right?
Well, Chavez took a hard hit to the face from a foul ball. The little Red Raider fan seems to be doing OK, however, after the scary moment.
Waking up a year older and a little swollen. We are thankful everything turned out the way it did. He is really excited about all the attention. pic.twitter.com/7ROCt82fPY

His father, Eric Chavez, tweeted out photos of his son’s bruised face following the accident. It doesn’t appear anything was broken, just some swelling, according to his father.
One thing is clear: That is one tough 8-year-old boy.
Eric Chavez had more photos to tweet out of Ethan after Texas Tech coach Tim Tadlock and sophomore infielder Josh Jung paid his son a visit.

The young Red Raider fan definitely will not forget this birthday.
On to the Supers
While Ethan Chavez’s birthday celebration might’ve been painful, the Red Raiders won 11-6 to advance to the NCAA Super Regionals.
Texas Tech will host Duke in the NCAA Super Regionals at Dan Law Field at Rip Griffin Park.

If necessary, Game 3 of the Super Regional series will start at 4 p.m. ET on Monday.
