The Texas Tech Red Raiders released their nonconference men’s basketball schedule on Saturday.
Texas Tech will play nine home games at United Supermarkets Arena. The Red Raiders also host Rice on Dec. 16 as a “throwback” game at Lubbock Municipal Coliseum. The Red Raiders played their home games at that venue from 1956-57 to 1998-99.
After an exhibition against Angelo State on Nov. 3, the Red Raiders will open their season with home games against South Alabama (Nov. 10) and Maine (Nov. 14). Those games are part of the regional rounds of the Naismith Memorial Hall of Fame Tipoff Tournament.
The next round of that tournament is Nov. 18-19 in Uncasville, Conn., where Texas Tech will play Boston College and either Northwestern or La Salle. The Red Raiders will head home to play Wofford on Nov. 22 and Savannah State on Nov. 25 in their final November games.
They’ll open December at home on Dec. 5 against Nevada, which won 28 games and swept the Mountain West regular season and tournament titles last season.
Games against Kennesaw State on Dec. 13, Florida Atlantic on Dec. 19 and Abilene Christian on Dec. 22 round out the nonconference schedule until the Big 12/SEC Challenge. Texas Tech will travel to South Carolina on Jan. 27. The Gamecocks are coming off a surprise Final Four run last season.
The Red Raiders finished 18-14 last season.
