Lubbock, Texas, police have released video of the arrests of two Texas Tech football players over the weekend.
The video, obtained by Lubbock TV station KCBD, shows police arresting junior linebacker/safety Christian Taylor and sophomore quarterback Jett Duffey. Junior receiver Quan Shorts and junior defensive back Desmon Smith were also arrested.
The video contains explicit language.
Police say they were responding to call about a civil disturbance and were trying to find an armed suspect, according to the KCBD report. At the beginning of the video, Taylor is seen punching the windshield of a car, at which point the officer goes over to Taylor and begins to handcuff him. Taylor claims the vehicle tried to hit him.
About 5 minutes into the video, Smith is seen arguing with the officer wearing the camera.
“I’m going to give you one more chance to leave,” the officer says.
“Or what?” Smith says before being ushered away by two other men. Smith was later taken to University Medical Center for a bite from a K-9 Unit dog.
At the 8-minute mark in the video, the officer runs over after a loud sound and begins handcuffing Duffey. The officer says later in the video that Duffey punched a hole in a wall. Moments earlier in the video, the officer was explaining to Duffey and some other people why Taylor was being arrested.
Taylor and Duffey were both charged with criminal mischief. All four players had been released from jail by Monday morning.
