Texas Tech recruit Luke Gonsioroski died Monday after a long battle with cancer.
Gonsiorski, a former quarterback at Baker (Montana) High School, had gone through four rounds of chemotherapy before having surgery to remove a tumor in his chest in 2016. He eventually returned for his senior season and led Baker to a 6-3 record and a spot in the playoffs.
The 2017 recruit committed as a preferred walk-on in January. However, he found out later in the spring that his cancer had returned.

Gonsioroski had a 4.0 GPA and earned all-state honors as a senior.
“We are deeply saddened to learn of Luke’s passing,” Texas Tech coach Kliff Kingsbury said in a release provided by the school. “Luke was not only an exceptional athlete, he was also an incredible person, great student and leader in his community. He was such an inspiration through his fight and unwavering faith. It was truly an honor to know him. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family, friends and everyone whose lives he touched.”
Gonsioroski is survived by his father, Charles, his mother, Katina, and his two younger sisters, Hannah and Hope.
