Texas linebacker Edwin Freeman is expected to miss the remainder of the Longhorns’ spring practice after undergoing surgery to repair a torn triceps, according to the school.
Freeman aggravated the injury in practice during late March. He had the surgery on Wednesday.
The fifth-year senior played in 11 games last season, but started none. He started the final five games of the season at linebacker in 2016, although his role in 2017 was mainly on special teams. Freeman posted 6 tackles last year and recovered a fumble.
In addition to Freeman’s injury, the school also announced that senior defensive back P.J. Locke III suffered a stinger in practice Saturday. He is being monitored by the school.
The Longhorns are still two weeks away from their spring game, which will take place on April 21.
