The Texas Longhorns defense just got a huge addition with the commitment of Class of 2019 outside linebacker De’Gabriel Floyd on Saturday.
Floyd, a 4-star from Westlake, California, announced his commitment on Twitter.

Floyd is ranked by 247Sports as the No. 40 overall prospect in 2019, the No. 3 overall linebacker and the No. 5 player from the state of California. He was heavily recruited by USC, his hometown school, and was committed to the Trojans at one point before reopening his recruitment. For Texas to be able to poach him from the southern California area is a very good sign.
At 6-foot-2 and 220 pounds, Floyd has a solid frame to work with. He also plays running back, which shows that he has a decent amount of speed as well.
Floyd is the fourth commitment in Texas’ 2019 class, and is the third 4-star to choose the Longhorns.
