A coveted cornerback with a Texas offer committed elsewhere, as Houston Dekaney High product Marcus Banks announced his pledge to LSU on Sunday following an official visit.

Banks entered his LSU official visit with a final five of Texas, Texas A&M, Alabama, Auburn and the Tigers.
Once considered a Longhorns lean prior to postponing his initial March commitment date, momentum began to cool between Banks and Texas in recent weeks.
The Longhorns were expected to host Banks for an official visit on May 4, which could have calmed much of the momentum swinging in Texas A&M’s favor following an official visit the previous weekend.
That visit, however, didn’t take place, and after once being considered the favorite, Texas had fallen almost entirely out of conversations surrounding Banks’ recruitment.
Now committed to LSU, Banks becomes the latest Texas cornerback target to come off the board or cut the Longhorns from consideration.
The Longhorns hold a pledge from elite Georgia coverage corner Kenyatta Watson II and are in a good position with Mansfield (Texas) Legacy product Jeffery Carter and Oregon commit Marques Caldwell.
