The Texas Longhorns had 10 players named to the preseason All-Big 12 team by Athlon Sports’ Steven Lassan, including two first-team selections on defense.
The all-conference teams are meant to project where things will stand at the end of the 2018 season. Linebacker Breckyn Hager and cornerback Kris Boyd were both first-team picks. Hager had 22 tackles, including 9 tackles for loss, and 4 passes defended as a junior in 2017, while Boyd had 54 total tackles and 2 interceptions.
Linebacker Gary Johnson was a second-team selection, and the Longhorns had seven more players on the third- and fourth-team units. The 10 selections tied Texas for sixth-most in the Big 12. Oklahoma led the league with 15.
