Spring football is upon us.
For the Texas Longhorns, that means what takes place now will largely determine just how significant of a step forward Tom Herman’s team will take during his second season on the Forty Acres.
By this point, it’s well known that practices under Herman’s guidance — even those of the spring variety — are tremendously physical and competitive. That was on full display in the Longhorns latest spring practice hype video.
“If you want to earn a job, you earn jobs in spring ball,” Herman said. “Every single rep is full speed, 4th and inches.”

With Texas just months removed from its first bowl win since 2012 and first winning season (7-6) since 2013, various reports have noted the excitement, energy and enthusiasm surrounding the program at this point. Each of those qualities were on full display in the hype video above, and should continue to be throughout the rest of the spring.
Texas’ Orange-White spring game will take place on April 21.
