If Darren Andrews is going to begin his NFL career this year it’s going to be with a different team than originally thought. The former UCLA wide receiver was waived Monday by the New England Patriots, who signed him as an undrafted free agent after last month’s NFL draft.
According to Mike Reiss of ESPN, Andrews was cut because of a non-football injury though it was football-related. Andrews missed the final four games of the 2017 season with a knee injury which apparently hasn’t healed enough for him to practice.
Andrews led UCLA with 10 touchdown catches last year despite playing only nine games, catching 60 passes for 773 yards. In his Bruins career, which began in 2013, he had 162 receptions for 1,977 yards and 15 TDs.
