When Lonzo Ball began playing Wednesday’s NBA Summer League playoff game against the Philadelphia 76ers, for the first time in his professional career, he wasn’t wearing the $495 Big Baller Brand shoes.
The shoes were purple Kobe A.D’s and after he led the L.A. Lakers in a fourth quarter come-from-behind, as Spike Lee would recite, “It’s gotta’ be the shoes.”
The former UCLA Bruin dropped 36 points, 11 assists, 8 rebounds and 5 steals on the Sixers last night all in a pair of Nikes. When was the last time Ball wore Nikes or a brand name shoe in public? He’s only worn his signature Zo 2s since his season ended at UCLA. He channeled his inner-Kobe Bryant.

Ball played his best summer league game Wednesday and it was perfect timing for him, because LeBron James sat courtside with a purple tinted shirt. James will be a free agent in 2018 and has been rumored to be interested in playing for the Lakers so Ball throwing touchdown passes was a helluva recruiting tool.
