Los Angeles Lakers point guard and No. 2 overall draft pick Lonzo Ball reportedly will miss Monday’s game against the Sacramento Kings with a groin injury, per USA Today’s Sam Amick.
Summer League letdown: I'm told Lakers' Lonzo Ball will rest a sore groin tonight & miss a faceoff/rematch against Kings' De'Aaron Fox.

With Ball out against the Kings, his rematch against No. 5 pick De’Aaron Fox won’t happen. Fox and Ball battled each other twice last season in college and split the matchups.
Ball, a former UCLA Bruins star, and Fox, who was a star point guard at Kentucky, met in the regular season with Ball leading his team to a road victory. Fox returned the favor in the Sweet 16, dropping 39 points while Ball scored 10.
Ball has played in two summer league games for the Lakers, both losses. In the first game against the L.A. Clippers, Ball shot 2-for-15 from the field in a highly anticipated debut. He bounced back with a triple-double (11 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists) against the Boston Celtics.
Is Ball’s injury a bunch of bologna? There wasn’t a sign of injury against the Celtics, but who knows. The rubber match between Ball and Fox will have to wait for a bigger stage during the regular season.
The timetable for Ball’s return is unknown.
