Who is the best quarterback in the collegiate ranks?
Is it defending Heisman winner Lamar Jackson? What about Sam Darnold, who has caused quite a stir from NFL scouts this offseason? Texas A&M head coach Kevin Sumlin has a different answer to the question.
“I think that Josh Rosen is the best quarterback in the country,” Sumlin said at the Texas High School Coaches Association (THSCA) coaches convention, via 24/7Sports. “We’ve got our work cut out for us.
“He’s not only a guy with great arm talent, he’s very smart. There’s things that you saw during that game (last year) and you could see him changing things at the line of scrimmage.”
A&M faces UCLA on Sept. 3 at the Rose Bowl to kick off their 2017 campaign, and will have a tall task beating Rosen two years in a row. The Aggies picked off the star quarterback three times in their 31-24 overtime win against UCLA in the 2016 home opener.
Rosen’s sophomore season got cut short due to a shoulder injury. He threw for 1,915 yards and 10 touchdowns in six games. As a freshman, he had 3,670 passing yards and 23 scoring tosses.
