Yes, yes, we know: Today was spring football day. Around the country, this is a rather exciting day, though particularly at UCLA, where fans were greeted to their first glimpses of a Chip Kelley-run team.
But other sports were also being played on Saturday. Sports that are, you know, in their regular seasons, playing games that legitimately matter as the year winds down and the playoff picture begins to take shape. Like the UCLA softball team.
The Bruins were playing host to Washington this week, shutting out the top-ranked Huskies on Friday, 3-0. A win Saturday would clinch the series.
They did just that in thrilling fashion, with Madeline Jelenicki providing a walk-off home run, pulling one deep to left field to seal the 3-2 victory.

UCLA is now 39-3 overall and 14-3 in Pac-12 play. The Huskies are 41-4 and 12-4 in the conference.
