5-star defensive end and No. 1 recruit Kayvon Thibodeaux has narrowed his list to five — and two are Pac-12 schools.

Nation’s No. 1 recruit Kayvon Thibodeaux lists USC, Oregon in top five schools

The nation’s top recruit hails from Los Angeles, and his West Coast roots showed in his top 5 schools.

Kayvon Thibodeaux listed USC and Oregon among his top 5, which he announced via a video posted Friday by a company producing a multi-part documentary on high school football stars.

Alabama, Florida and Florida State rounded out Thibodeaux’s top 5.

The documentary series, titled “The Season” and produced by Highlight Sports Productions, focuses on Thibodeaux, UCLA signee and former Bishop Gorman star quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson, 4-star receiver Mycah Pittman (Calabasas, Calif.), Oregon State signee and former Dorsey (Los Angeles) tight end Isaiah Smalls, and 5-star quarterback Bryce Young (Mater Dei HS, Santa Ana, Calif.).

Thibodeaux has attracted plenty of attention since his breakout sophomore season at Dorsey High School, after which he transferred to Oaks Christian in search of a better education and more stable living situation. His No. 1 ranking has followed him wherever he’s gone, attracting feature stories from outlets such as VICE Sports.

Two days ago, 247Sports’ Greg Biggins reported Thibodeaux was down to 12 schools. His list shortened quickly from Wednesday to Friday, seeing seven schools — LSU, Washington, Michigan, UCLA, Oklahoma, Clemson and Georgia — get the ax in 48 hours.

Where Thibodeaux lands will be one of the biggest, if not the biggest story from the class of 2019. The Pac-12 has a 40 percent chance of landing him.
