Chino Hills 5-star power forward Onyeka Okongwu is headed to USC.
Okongwu chose the Trojans over Kansas, UCLA and Washington, per the Los Angeles Times’ Brady McCollough.
Okongwu was a former teammate of Lonzo, LiAngelo and LaMelo Ball at Chino Hills. The four starred on Chino Hills’ perfect season in 2016 when the Huskies finished the year as the No. 1 high school team in the country with a 35-0 record.
In the midst of the Ball family moving on from Chino Hills, Okongwu has consistently shined on the basketball court. He is know for his shot blocking and rebounding prowess.
The 6-foot-9 power forward led Chino Hills to a 2018 state Division I champion as the undisputed leader in his junior season. He averaged 28 points, 12 rebounds and 4 blocks and was awarded The Los Angeles Times’ Boys’ Basketball Player of the Year.
Okongwu is rated as the No. 5 center and the No. 16 overall prospect in the 2019 class by 247 Sports.
