Former USC wide receiver Steven Mitchell is making a good impression on his new coach.
Mitchell is beginning his NFL career at home with the Los Angeles Rams. The Rams signed Mitchell as an undrafted free agent. He just finished his first rookie minicamp in Los Angeles, and so far so good.
Rams coach Sean McVay is pleased with what he’s seen from the USC product.
“Anytime you’re looking at a receiver, you want to see guys that have the ability to separate, aggressive hands attacking the football,” McVay said, per the Ventura County Star’s Joe Curley.
The Rams are a good landing spot for Mitchell. He has a good chance to make the team because Los Angeles needs some depth at the receiver position. The fact that Mitchell gets to stay in Southern California and play should make his NFL transition more comfortable.
Undrafted free agents don’t always pan out in the NFL but Mitchell has a more than realistic chance at making the Rams’ squad.
