USC had a brief scare with defensive tackle Brandon Pili on Saturday.
Pili was carted off the field with an ankle injury early on at USC’s practice on Saturday. USC coach Clay Helton said the defensive tackle twisted an ankle, per the Los Angeles Daily News’ Joey Kaufman.
The sophomore returned to watch the remainder of the practice and was walking around without a significant limp, Kaufman noted.
Pili appeared in seven games last season. He had 14 tackles in 2017.
