USC wide receiver Joseph Lewis was released from jail early Tuesday morning.
Lewis was released at 12:59 a.m. Tuesday, per Joey Kaufman of The Orange County Register. He is scheduled to appear in court on March 6.
The Los Angeles Police Department arrested Lewis around 2 p.m. PT Monday after an alleged incident of domestic violence involving an unnamed USC student-athlete that occurred early Sunday.
Lewis was held on $50,000 bail.
The LAPD hasn’t provided further details about the alleged incident at the time of this post.
A spokesman for USC’s athletic department released a statement on the matter:
“USC takes all reports of domestic abuse seriously and is cooperating fully with the law enforcement investigation,” a school statement read, per The Orange County Register. “While this student code of conduct issue is being investigated, the student has been suspended from all football-related activities. Student disciplinary records and student conduct proceedings are confidential at USC and protected by law.”
