Matt Fink hasn’t done anything to disturb his momentum en route to USC’s starting quarterback position. The scrimmage Saturday probably helped his case in large part due to Jack Sears’ rough outing.
According to Ryan Abraham of 247 Sports, Fink had a “pretty good” day at USC’s scrimmage. Fink didn’t do anything spectacular but he was steady. Meanwhile, Sears had a forgettable day. Abraham noted that Sears had 2 interceptions and no completions during team drills.
Fink, Sears and incoming freshman J.T. Daniels are in a quarterback competition for the starting spot. USC coach Clay Helton said earlier he might wait until a week or two from the first game against UNLV to name Sam Darnold’s successor.
Saturday was Day 9 of the Trojans’ spring practices. The session featured a scrimmage in full pads, which serves as a good indicator for coaches.
