USC’s quarterback competition will soon include J.T. Daniels.
Shortly after the Trojans’ spring scrimmage Saturday, coach Clay Helton delivered news about the team’s 5-star freshman quarterback.
Helton confirmed Daniels will be on campus by June 8 to enroll in summer classes, per 247Sports’ Keely Eure. Even more noteworthy, Daniels said the quarterback will be able to participate in USC’s player-run practices since they are not sanctioned by the school.
Daniels will immerse himself in an intense competition that includes quarterbacks Matt Fink and Jack Sears. Fink and Sears are obviously further along, being in the program for a few years, but Daniels is considered to be a threat to start as a freshman for the Trojans.
USC concluded its 15th spring practice with a scrimmage on Saturday. There were a few highlights, including some from Fink and Sears. Yet, the quarterback competition will intensify in a couple of months.
