Linebacker Daniel Heimuli takes surprise visit to USC
Daniel Heimuli, 4-star prospect, made a surprise visit to one of USC’s spring practices last week. It was the second time he has visited the Trojans since being offered a scholarship right after National Signing Day. Heimuli liked what he saw and remains very interested in USC.
“The USC visit was really good. The practice was high tempo and I got to talk with head coach [Clay] Helton and LB coach [Johnny] Nansen,” he said, per 247Sports. “Nansen pulled me aside and we watched the linebackers. It was great.
“(Nansen) and I talked football and how the defense is going to be run around me if I come here,” he said. “I’d be playing the inside backer and room to make plays on the outside and still thud inside the tackles.”
Heimuli is entering his senior season at Menlo-Atherton High School in Menlo Park, Calif. He will be taking more visits this summer as he tries to lock in his Top 10 schools. He and his family like that USC is close to Northern California and the belief is that proximity to home will play a factor in his recruitment.
“My family does like that (USC) is close,” he said to 247Sports. “That they would be able to see me play and come down an visit.”
Heimuli is rated the No. 298 overall recruit in the 2019 class and the No. 9 ILB, according to the 247Sports composite.

Elite Florida RB loves the Trojans
Glover Cook, a 3-star RB from Vanguard High School in Ocala, Fla., made his first visit to Southern California a week ago and absolutely enjoyed his time at USC.
“I loved it,” said Cook, per 247Sports. “I got to see everything I wanted to see, so it was a great visit. I liked the vibe, and seeing the environment of the campus was really nice. California is everything I thought it would be. The weather, the environment … it’s all been a great experience.”
Cook is being recruited as an athlete and expects to play either running back or wide receiver in college. When he was offered a scholarship by USC, he said only one thought crossed his mind.
“Reggie Bush,” said Cook, per 247Sports.. “That’s where Reggie Bush went.”
Cook doesn’t have any official visits locked in but told 247Sports he wants to take an official visit with the Trojans.

Theo Wease, a 4-star wide receiver prospect according to 247Sports, announced Friday that he is committed to Oklahoma. Wease, from Allen, Texas, had been a top priority for USC and included the Trojans in his most recent top 5.
Wease’s top 5 also included Alabama, LSU and Texas A&M. As a junior, Wease tallied 57 catches for 879 yards and 14 touchdowns. He originally committed to Oklahoma in February 2017, but he later de-committed from the Sooners in April 2017.
