Though he signed with USC nearly five months ago, Kevin Porter Jr.’s stock continues to rise. A dominant performance at the Nike Hoops Summit in Oregon last week saw him take a huge jump up the Rivals.com recruiting rankings, from No. 32 to No. 14.
And by rising to that spot it meant Porter became a 5-star prospect, something the Trojans haven’t had in a while.

DeMar DeRozan was USC’s last 5-star signee, in 2008, prior to his lone college season and then what’s been a tremendous NBA career with the Toronto Raptors.
Porter, a 6-foot-5 shooting guard from Seattle, did not make the U.S. team for the Nike Hoops Summit but instead shined against Team USA while playing for a scout team called the Portland Generals that scrimmaged against Team USA.
He remains a 4-star prospect in 247Sports’ composite rankings, sitting at No. 35 overall.
