Uchenna Nwosu is confident he can play in a 3-4 or 4-3 defense. The former USC outside linebacker doesn’t have a preference.
Nwosu was a safety coming out of high school, but he spent his entire Trojans career as an outside linebacker. He believes his versatility will play into his advantage come draft time.
“Due to my versatility I can do a lot of different things,” Nwosu said on NFL Network recently. “Definitely playing behind the ball on first and second down, maybe third down coming off the edge [and] sub-packages. So I open up a lot of doors and a lot of packages for NFL teams.”
The 6-foot-3, 251 pound prospect has the frame to be an outside linebacker. NFL teams probably prefer him to stay there, and based on film he’s best suited for a 3-4 defensive scheme. But he does have the ability to be successful in a 4-3 defense.
Nwosu is rated as a top-5 outside linebacker prospect, and he’s projected to be a Day 2 selection in the 2018 NFL Draft. We’ll find out his next destination soon.
