The talented wide receiver was dismissed by Willie Taggart after he was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of driving under the influence on July 1. Carrington graduated from Oregon over the spring, so he can play immediately for the Utes.
Carrington visited with Utah less than a week ago, and now immediately becomes the most talented threat on the team’s receiving corps. He accumulated 1,919 yards and 15 touchdowns through the air over the past three seasons in Eugene.
Utah fans may also remember Carrington when he scored a game-winning touchdown with two seconds left last season to give the Ducks a 30-28 win in Salt Lake City. Oregon’s upset knocked Utah out of the Pac-12 South race. Utah will play at Autzen Stadium on Oct. 28.
The Utes were also considered one of the top fits for Carrington to land due to the coaching staff’s previous history at successfully giving players a chance at redemption.
