Longtime athletic director Chris Hill ended a 31-year tenure at Utah on Friday, and the Utes have found his successor. The school announced it has hired Mark Harlan, who for the past four years has been athletic director at South Florida.

Harlan is quite familiar with the Pac-12, having spent four years as UCLA’s senior associate athletic director as well as time at Arizona (his alma mater) as a key fundraiser. He also had administrative roles at Northern Colorado and San Jose State.
Hill, 68, who had served as Utah’s athletic director since 1987, announced his retirement in March. He was the longest-tenured athletic director in Division I.
