Beamer posted a 238-121-2 record at Virginia Tech and guided the program to bowl appearances in each of his last 23 seasons at the helm.
In 1999, Beamer guided Virginia Tech to an undefeated regular season and an appearance in the National Championship Game.
Beamer is currently a member of the College Football Playoff selection committee.
Beamer Ball lives on through the next generation of Hokies, so it’s only fitting its creator gets his due in the state it rose to fame.
