Since the start of June, Chesterfield, Va., native Jaden Payoute has seen his life change dramatically as a college football prospect. Payoute had a breakout spring and saw his offer total increase to 17, many of which have come since the beginning of the month. On Sunday, he chose from his options, committing to Virginia Tech.
Payoute announced his decision on Twitter along with some fancy photoshop work showing him in a Hokies jersey and then on the cover of ESPN The Magazine in a mockup of their 2019 college football preview.
Ranked as a 4-star athlete by 247Sports, Payoute’s stock has risen so quickly that he’s not even ranked yet in the 247Sports composite rankings.
However, the potential wide receiver or defensive back received offers from Tennessee, Illinois, Boston College, Pittsburgh, Cincinnati and Virginia Tech in the last 10 days before pledging to the Hokies. Now, Virginia Tech and coach Justin Fuente will have to stave off the rest of the country as the offers likely continue to pour in for the 6-foot-3, 195-pound star at Lloyd C. Bird High School.
