Virginia Tech football might be chasing a little revenge against Clemson after a close call in the ACC title game last season, but the Tigers aren’t the ACC team that coach Justin Fuente is most interested in beating.
On Tuesday, the Virginia Tech coach pegged in-state rival Virginia as that team, saying “If you’re gonna be the head coach at Virginia Tech, you better beat Virginia.”
The Hokies travel to Virginia this season on Friday, Nov. 24, in Charlottesville, Va.
Fuente is entering his second season at the helm at Virginia Tech, coming off a 10-4 season. His goal of beating Virginia was achieved in 2016 and handily at that. The Hokies spanked the Cavaliers 52-10 in the regular-season finale, which sent Virginia Tech onto the ACC title game against Clemson.
Fuente is taking part in ESPN’s “Car Wash” series on Tuesday.
