Virginia Tech football landed 3-star defensive back Jermaine Waller for the 2018 recruiting class on Thursday.

Standing at 6-foot-2 and 180 pounds, Waller, who attends The Avalone School in Bethesda, MD, is the 18th-best prospect from the state of Maryland according to 247Sports. He is also rated the 79th cornerback and 883rd overall player in the 2018 recruiting class.
Waller also had offers from Maryland, N.C. State, Virginia and Rutgers. He is the 19th commit for Virginia Tech in the class.
With this addition, the Hokies own the fourth-best 2018 recruiting class in the ACC. They are also ranked 16th nationally.
In the class, Virginia Tech is pretty loaded in the defensive backfield. Safety Chamarri Conner is the second-highest rated recruit in the class for the Hokies. They also have 3-star cornerbacks D.J. Crossen and Braxton Clark, along with 3-star safety Nasir Peoples.
