Former Virginia basketball forward Mike Scott will be playing in the DMV in 2017-18.
The Washington Wizards announced they signed the NBA veteran to a one-year deal on Sunday.
Scott, who has played five seasons in the NBA, has spent nearly all of his career with the Atlanta Hawks. He was traded to the Phoenix Suns in February but was released a day later. He missed the majority of last season with an injury to his left knee, playing in only 18 games with a career-low 2.5 points per game.
The 6-foot-8 forward has shot 33.6 percent from 3-point range, 46 percent from the field and 78.6 percent from the free-throw line in his career.
Scott played five years at Virginia, scoring a career-high 18.0 points per game as a senior in 2011-12 after coming back from two surgeries on his left ankle that limited him to 10 games in 2010-11.
