The Virginia Cavaliers have a long way to go to achieve recognition in the college football world. And after a disparaging article from SB Nation, Cavaliers senior linebacker Micah Kiser realizes it will be hardest to earn respect from Virginia Tech fans.
“Yesterday, I was reading an article, it was from some Virginia Tech site,” Kiser said according to 247Sports. “It was about [how Virginia Tech] shouldn’t hang their hats on beating us because we’re not a good football program. If you compare us, we’d be like a MAC team or something like that.
“So, I shared it with the guys. We talk. We see stuff.”
Blue Lone Wolf wrote for SB Nation over the weekend it would be humiliating to lose to Virginia not because of the rivalry, but “because they’re a terrible football team.”
“If they were any other football team, they’d be Ball State or Bowling Green or UMass or some other lower-end FBS team.”
Virginia hired Bronco Mendenhall before the 2016 season to turn things around, but the Cavaliers went 2-10 in his first year. As a result, Mendenhall is spending a lot of time this summer attempting to change the culture of the program. Kiser is definitely on board.
“I trust the system, I trust the process.” said Blanding according to 247Sports. “Why not go one more year, why not go out with a bang and increase the status of Virginia.”
