Wake Forest coach Dave Clawson picked up another program changing victory in Week 12, defeating N.C. State, 30-24, on Saturday.
With the victory, the Demon Deacons now have a legitimate claim as the third-best team in the ACC. Wake Forest remains a game behind N.C. State in the Atlantic Division, but both squads are 7-4.
In his second-to-last home game of his career, senior quarterback John Wolford shined. He completed 19 of 28 passes for 247 yards, 3 touchdowns and an interception. He threw the game-winning score with the game tied and about 8 minutes remaining in the fourth quarter.
The Wake Forest did the rest, forcing 2 turnovers on the final 2 N.C. State possessions.
Here’s what Clawson said after the victory:
On the narrow victory: “We made one more play at the end.”
Wake Forest coach Dave Clawson: "We're really proud of our football team. It was a great team win and it feels really good."
