Sundays are becoming no-hit days for Washington State’s pitching staff. For the second time in three weeks the Cougars have held their opponent without a hit on the final day of a series, this time blanking Santa Clara 5-0 in a nonconference game in Pullman.

Junior right-hander Parker McFadden went the first 5 innings, walking 2 and striking out 4 with a hit batter to pick up the win. Sophomore lefty A.J. Block went the next 1.1 innings, walking 1 and striking out one, then senior righty Collin Maier went 0.2 innings before senior righty Ryan Walker went the final two frames with 3 strikeouts.
The combined no-hitter comes two weeks after senior lefty Scotty Sunitsch went the distance in a nine-inning no-no against Oregon.
