The Los Angeles Rams signed 25-year-old kicker Travis Coons on Thursday, the team announced.
Coons, who played for two seasons at Washington, last kicked in the NFL during the 2015 season. He made 28 of his 32 field-goal attempts with the Cleveland Browns then, and made 22-24 extra-point attempts.
Following his transfer from Mount San Antonio Community College in California, Coons was 24 of 30 on field goals and 101 of 102 on extra points in his junior and senior seasons with the Huskies.
The former undrafted free agent is a long shot to get the starting job with the Rams since they already have kicker Greg Zuerlein. But a strong preseason showing could open the door for opportunities with other teams.
