Considering the size of this recruit, this probably deserved added emphasis.

Chris Petersen was shining the recruiting Bat Signal with that tweet Monday night, announcing he’d picked up a fresh commitment. The newest pledge isn’t from the 2019 class, though — he’s an early decider with his eyes and heart set on Seattle.
Washington landed 2020 offensive lineman Gaard (pronounced like “guard”) Memmelaar, according to his Instagram post. The 6-foot-5, 285-pound guard gave his commitment Monday night.
“I think I did good,” Memmelaar told Realdawg.com’s Ruth Robbins. “About two days later they contacted Coach Brock (his high school coach) and I got the offer. I knew from the very beginning I wanted to go there — when I was up there it just felt like home with the staff and the players.”
Memmelaar, a native of Idaho (and thus, quite familiar with the impact Petersen can have as a football coach), is the first commitment of Washington’s 2020 class. Here’s to hoping he plays guard and not tackle, just for the name puns.
