The Washington Huskies are coming off a 10-win season that included a spot in the Fiesta Bowl, but a 35-28 loss to Penn State in that game put a sour end to that campaign. Hopes are high for 2018, though, with the majority of their top players returning for another year.
That’s made Washington’s spring workouts, which began on March 28, as close to full-fledged preseason practices as possible.
The Huskies still have a few more practices left before wrapping up the spring with an open practice that fans can attend at Husky Stadium on April 21.

Washington spring game preview
The Washington Huskies return the majority of their starters from last season, most notably senior quarterback Jake Browning and senior running back Myles Gaskin. They will make for one of the most experienced offensive duos in the Pac-12, if not the country, and their participation in spring ball is more about maintenance than improvement.
Where the Huskies are focusing the most on offense this spring is at wide receiver, where the graduation of Dante Pettis and Will Dissly means plenty of targets are available. The spring game can serve as an early audition for Washington’s many young and promising receivers.
While Browning has continued to get first-team reps, he’s also making way for Washington’s two freshman passers, early enrollees Jacob Sirmon and Colson Yankoff, to learn the system. Expect them to be heavily featured in the spring game.
The Huskies defense isn’t as experienced as the offense, with defensive tackle Vita Vea and a good chunk of the linebacker corps moving on. The secondary returns intact, however, and that group will get to show its stuff against Washington’s young QBs.
