West Virginia football may not be ranked in the top 10 entering the 2017 season, but a dish at a popular restaurant among Mountaineer fans is.
Sports Illustrated’s Andy Staples ranked the top 25 college town meals in the nation on Wednesday, and a Morgantown restaurant — Tudor’s Biscuit World — owns one of the top 10 meals on the list.
Staples ranked the restaurant’s “Mountaineer,” which he described as country ham, hash browns, eggs and cheese “packed into a biscuit the size of a small dinner plate,” No. 10 on the list. He also acknowledged the “Huggie Bear” – a breakfast biscuit named in honor of West Virginia men’s basketball coach Bob Huggins.
The original Tudor’s is located in Charleston, W. Va, according to Staples, but the Morgantown location is a popular destination for West Virginia fans and students alike. The No. 10 ranking on the list was the highest of any restaurant located in a Big 12 college town.
Among other Big 12 college towns, The “Gut Pak” fried pie at Vitteks in Waco, Texas, came in at No. 18, while the “Butter Flight” at Radina’s Bakehouse in Manhattan, Kan. came in at No. 23. The Chilaquiles and Steak at Taqueria Jalisco — a Lubbock, Texas, eatery — closed out the list at No. 25.
So, get out there and explore your cities, Big 12 students. Odds are, there’s some good food to be had in your backyard.
