Former West Virginia wide receiver Daikiel Shorts may have been an undrafted free agent, but he played like he belongs in the NFL during the Buffalo Bills’ first preseason game against the Minnesota Vikings on Thursday.
Shorts pulled down a couple of athletic catches back-to-back late in the fourth quarter, the first being a 16-yard sideline grab on fourth down. He followed that with another sideline reception, this time for 6 yards.

The Bills failed to score on the drive and lost 17-10, however. Shorts finished with 4 receptions for 37 yards.
Shorts caught a team-high 63 passes for 894 yards and 5 touchdowns during his final season with the Mountaineers in 2016, including a season-high 131-yard performance during the first game against Missouri.
The Bills aren’t short on wide receivers, with 12 players competing for seven spots. Although the practice squad or free agent market might be likely destinations for Shorts, he certainly didn’t hurt his chances with his performance in Buffalo’s two-minute offense Thursday.
