The West Virginia Mountaineers women’s basketball team fell just shy of an NIT championship game appearance in a 64-61 loss to Virginia Tech Wednesday.

West Virginia trailed 33-25 at the half, but rallied to trim the deficit to 5 at the end of the third quarter. A late push gave the Mountaineers a 61-58 lead with 1:20 left, but West Virginia could not score for the remainder of the game.
Teana Muldrow, playing in her final collegiate game, led West Virginia with 20 points on 9 of 25 shooting and blocked 6 shots. Naomi Davenport added 14 points and had 4 assists.
The West Virginia women finished the season at 25-12.
