No returning Big 12 quarterback is sharper than Will Grier when kept clean in the pocket, according to data from Pro Football Focus.
Grier has the best passer rating (117.9) of any Big 12 quarterback when kept free clean returning next season. Baylor’s Charlier Brewer is a close second at 114.3.
Quarterbacks needed at least 160 dropbacks in 2017 to qualify for the ranking.

Grier should be one of the better quarterbacks returning to the conference in 2018. West Virginia is one of a handful Big 12 teams with an established quarterback. The likes of Oklahoma, TCU, Oklahoma State and Texas have ongoing quarterback battles, however, this offseason.
Best in the Big 12?
West Virginia’s offense might be the best in the league next season if the Mountaineers offensive line provides Grier with enough time.
The 6-foot-2 quarterback broke out as one of the top Big 12 quarterbacks with 3,490 passing yards and 34 touchdowns last season.
His 2017 campaign was curtailed after suffering a finger injury early in a 28-14 loss to Texas.
Grier should be back to 100 percent when the Mountaineers face Tennessee in their 2018 season opener in Charlotte, N.C. While the Mountaineers face a tough nonconference slate, some think Grier and the Mountaineers have enough tools to contend for the Big 12.
